Stand Together - Beat Bullying!

Its Easy...

The worst way to do it is by fighting back, because that just makes it worse. It might seem the easy way out but it isn't. Think about it - are you any better than the bully by hitting them back? And you could also end up in alot of trouble. You can contact Bully Aware by Need Advice or Got A Problem, or read on for more advice.

The best way is by telling someone. It might seem hard and you might think the bullying will just get worse. But it won't. Really, it won't, and you can believe me because when you have been bullied as many times as me you become an expert in the field. Just talking to someone helps so if you don't feel comfortable talking to an adult you know, phone Childline on 0800 1111. The Childline people are trained people who know and understand what you are going through and they want to help you. But it is best to talk to someone you know well like a parent or other family member or a teacher because then they can sort it out. If the bullying continues then you could go to the police.

Many people are bullied and they don't talk to anyone. This is usually because they are frightened. Bullies threaten the victim because if the victim doesn't fear the bully then the victim is stronger than the bully and can defeat them. Bullies are scared that the victim isn't scared of them because bullies are really scared of getting into trouble. To defeat a bully all you need to do is believe in yourself. Anybody is stronger and braver than a bully. And you can't think of yourself as a bad person because of the bully. If a bully calls you fat (I get called that sometimes) that doesn't matter. Because as long as YOU are ok with who you are, thats all that matters.

If you are one of those people who gets bullied and doesn't tell anyone then you have to. Its the best way. And if you see someone being bullied, tell someone! You won't start getting bullied.

If you see someone getting bullied then its important that you tell someone about it and be a friend to them. But don't participate - that just makes you a bully.
